77 Mr. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education the number, description and details of applications for funding to the sports section of her Department for County Longford; if they will be approved from the 1997 funding; and if she will give details of funding for projects in County Longford for each of the years from 1993 to 1996. [6376/97]
My Department has over one thousand applications on hand from sport and community organisations throughout the country. Applications will be considered in the context of funds available for allocation in 1997.
In view of the volume of applications, the Deputy will appreciate that it would take an inordinate amount of time to provide specific details of each application for individual counties. In any event, the deployment of staff to compile this type of information could not be justified having regard to scarce staff resources. My Department will be glad, however, to provide the Deputy with information on any individual application in which he may have an interest.
The grant allocated to organisations in County Longford from 1993 to 1996 under the sports capital programme are shown in the following tabular statement:
