Noel Dempsey

Question:

78 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education the amount of money spent by her Department in 1996 on the provision of extra classrooms in Ratoath national school, County Meath. [6377/97]

My Department provided a total of £34,823 towards improving facilities at Ratoath national school, County Meath in 1996. this includes architects fees incurred in the planning process for the extension currently in progress.

79 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education the amount of money spent by her Department in 1996 on the provision of extra classrooms in Longwood national school, County Meath. [6378/97]

My Department did not spend any money on the provision of extra classrooms at Longwood national school in 1996.

The project is now at the stage where tenders have been invited. When tenders have been received, and considered, my Department will be in touch with the school management.

80 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education the amount of money spent by her Department in 1996 on the provision of extra classrooms in St. Peter's College, Dunboyne, County Meath. [6379/97]

My Department approved a grant in the amount of £40,800.25, including VAT, in 1996 for the provision of temporary accommodation at St. Peter's College, Dunboyne, County Meath. A grant in the amount of £4,872, including VAT, was also approved for the provision of loose furniture for this temporary accommodation.

The total amount of this grant would not have been paid in 1996 and the remainder of the payments due will be made in 1997.

81 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Education the amount of money spent by her Department in 1996 on the provision of extra classrooms in Ashbourne national school, County Meath. [6380/97]

My Department did not spend any money in 1996 on the provision of extra classrooms in St. Mary's national school, Ashbourne. However, an application was received by my Department for the provision of a four classroom extension and this is at present being examined by the planning section. When this assessment is completed my Department will be in touch with the school authorities.

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

82 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the provision of a new technical school at Dungarvan, County Waterford; the timetable in relation to the various stages still to be completed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6381/97]

The County Waterford Vocational Education Committee's design team are currently preparing the stage 3 submission in respect of this project. It is not possible to give a definitive timetable for the completion of planning as this can be influenced by unforeseen factors.

However, every effort will be made to ensure that there is no delay in completing architectural planning of this new facility so that it may proceed at the earliest opportunity.
