Vol. 476 No. 1

Written Answers. - Teacher Appointments.

Chris Flood

Question:

83 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the outstanding educational work of the Catholic Youth Council in providing literacy and development activities for the adult travelling community at centres (details supplied) in Tallaght, Dublin 24; if she will have arrangements made with the County Dublin Vocational Education Committee to increase the part-time teaching hours from 900 to 1,600 in view of the fact that 140 travelling families are currently being helped and that there is a waiting list of over 40 families; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6382/97]

My Department recently received an application from County Dublin Vocational Education Committee seeking an increased teacher allocation for the project in question for the 1997-98 school year.

The matter is being considered at present. A decision will be conveyed to the vocational education committee as soon as possible.

I will notify the Deputy of the decision in due course.
