Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dental Service.

Liam Fitzgerald

Question:

103 Mr. L. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health if he will have investigations made into the reason dental treatment is approximately 40 per cent cheaper in Northern Ireland than in the South; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7910/97]

Limerick East): The charges for private dental treatment are determined by the market. There is some evidence to suggest that charges for certain procedures are lower in Northern Ireland than here but there is no scientific evidence to show that charges overall are higher when like treatment over the range is compared with like.
