Written Answers. - Recognition of Qualifications.

Seán Power

Question:

76 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Education if she will review the case of a person (details supplied) who is seeking a judgment on her United States education qualifications as to eligibility for higher diploma studies at Maynooth College, County Kildare, in view of the fact that this person is awaiting a response urgently from her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10080/97]

The registration council, acting with the approval of the Minister, is responsible for the recognition of qualifications for the purposes of teaching in secondary schools in this country.

The application for recognition referred to by the Deputy is being processed at the moment. It is expected that it will be presented to the registration council for consideration at its next meeting which will take place on 23 May 1997.
