Kitt asked the Minister for Education if she will meet a deputation of the board of management of a school (details supplied) in County Galway to discuss refurbishment works at the school; the current position on the application in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Officials from the planning and building unit of my Department have already met with representatives from County Galway Vocational Education Committee and from the school in question at a meeting held in the school late last year.
Since this meeting my Department has approved the appointment of a design team and the compilation of a report on the works required at the school.
59 Mrs. T. Ahern asked the Minister for Education when work will be carried out in a substandard school (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12362/97]
My Department received an application on 15 April 1997 for grant-aid towards improvement works at the school to which the Deputy refers. The application is under consideration and my Department has been in touch with the school manager in the matter. At this stage I am not in a position to state when work would be carried out.
