126 Mr. Roche asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will respond to a request lodged by Wicklow County Council with his Department some years ago for permission to upgrade the preliminary reports, prepared in 1979 and 1984, on the Kilcoole and Newtownmountkennedy regional sewerage scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has replied to Wicklow County Council, most recently on 21 April 1997, that due to the high level of existing commitments under the water and sewerage investment programme it is not possible to say when the scheme may be advanced. The position remains unchanged.
