134 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education and Science if phase two of Castleknock community college, Dublin 15 will be completed in time to allow the additional enrolment in September 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17356/97]
The architectural planning for phase two of Castleknock community college has been initiated and County Dublin Vocational Education Committee's design team has been requested to submit the outline sketch scheme for the proposed development. When the submission has been found to be satisfactory, the project will proceed to stage three of planning which is the developed sketch scheme.
The project will continue to be accorded a high priority in my Department and every effort will be made to ensure that the planning of the project is completed as quickly as possible with a view to starting construction. However, it is not envisaged that the building works will be completed by September 1998.
135 Mr. Roche asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will assist in resolving the outstanding issues in relation to the provision of a site for Coláiste Raithín, Bray, County Wicklow in view of the fact that the coláiste has proven to be an outstanding success; and if he will ensure that funding is in place to progress with the building programme as soon as site acquisition and planning matters are resolved. The identification of a site for Coláiste Raithín, Bray, County Wicklow is a matter for Town of Bray Vocational Education Committee.
Officials from the planning and building unit of my Department were recently in contact with the vocational education committee regarding the matter.
The question of funding will not arise until after a suitable site has been acquired, the architectural design process initiated and successfully completed.
136 Mr. McDowell asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will fulfil the undertaking given by his predecessor to fund the construction of a gymnasium at St. David's secondary school, Artane, Dublin 5. [17361/97]
An application for the provision of a PE Hall at St. David's secondary school, Artane, Dublin 5, has been received in my Department.
