Vol. 482 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

John Perry

Question:

158 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Sligo has not received his first and second REP scheme payments, in view of the fact that all the necessary documentation has been lodged and has been approved for the past year; and if his Department will have arrangements made to expedite payment. [18190/97]

This is a first year application under the REP scheme. The applicant was randomly chosen for pre-payment inspection to ensure that his plan complied with the conditions of the scheme and with the Department's agri-environmental specifications. A number of deficiencies were found and the applicant and his planning agency were notified of these on 17 September 1997. A revised plan was requested but has not been submitted to date. No payment can issue to the applicant until a satisfactory revised plan has been furnished.
