Question:

104 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Defence if a person (details supplied) in County Cork who was injured during an FCÁ training day in County Sligo is entitled to have his subsequent medical expenses covered by his Department. [17680/97]

The claim for compensation submitted by the person concerned was in respect of an incident during a national civil defence exercise. The claim was deemed ineligible by the insurers under the relevant provisions of the personal accident policy which covers Civil Defence activities.
