Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.
I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 169 of 30 September 1997. A revised agri-environmental plan was recently submitted by the applicant. This has now been examined and deemed to be satisfactory. However, a 10 per cent penalty is being applied because of a failure by the applicant to comply with the REPS conditions in year one. The applicant has been given an opportunity to appeal this penalty but so far no appeal has been received. Payment, less penalty, will be issued to the applicant within the week.
