68 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if grant aid is available from her Department or from agencies under the aegis of her Department for paper and cardboard recycling projects. [18849/97]
Forbairt provides grant assistance for projects where the collected recycled material is used to manufacture commercially viable projects in a traded sector. Forbairt does not provide support for the collection, sorting, shredding and baling of waste paper and cardboard. Under existing legislation Forbairt is precluded from providing support to the recycling industry unless the recycling process results in a new product.
Forbairt also provides support under the feasibility study grant programme to assist companies to investigate market opportunities for recycled products.
