Vol. 483 No. 1

Written Answers. - Closed Circuit Television.

Billy Timmins

Question:

206 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans, if any, he has to implement a closed circuit television security system for Bray, County Wicklow. [19930/97]

The Garda Commissioner has established a CCTV advisory group to review the future of CCTV systems as an aid to policing. It has prioritised the following locations for the installation of Garda CCTV systems: Dubin South Central, Finglas, Cork and Limerick.

I understand the operational benefits of CCTV in other urban locations including Bray are under consideration by the advisory committee and that these will be scheduled as resources become available. Funding for CCTV is normally provided jointly by local community interests and my Department.
