Nora Owen

Question:

327 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if his Department will give a further grant to the Irish women's cricket team which is representing Ireland at the Cricket World Cup in India in view of the fact that the expense of sending a team is approximately £35,000. [22623/97]

On the advice of the high performance advisory committee of the Irish Sports Council, I recently approved a further grant of £1,800 for the Irish Women's Cricket Union. A total grant of £5,800 has now been paid in respect of the participation of the Irish women's cricket team in the Cricket World Cup in India.
