Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Law Reform Commission.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

315 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the reports, or parts of reports, of the Law Reform Commission relevant to her Department which have not been implemented to date; whether implementation is under consideration or will be proposed in relation to each recommendation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1125/98]

The only publication of the Law Reform Commission of which I am aware that has relevance to my Department is the Consultation Paper on Privacy: Surveillance and Interception of Communications published in September 1996. When the final report becomes available, I will examine any relevant recommendations made by the Commission. However, I should state at this stage that primary responsibility for the implementation of policy in this area lies with my colleague, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
