Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Charitable Donations.

Question:

317 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she will give details of moneys given by her Department to charities for each of the years from 1990 to date in 1998; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1235/98]

My Department, with its present functions and in its present configuration, was established in 1993. Since that time a total of £398,591 was given to charities as follows:

£

1993

35,000

1994

72,000

1995

51,591

1996

120,000

1997

120,000

These payments were to Energy Action, a Dublin based charity engaged in home insulation for elderly and low-income groups. The payments take the form of grants based on vouched expenditure.
No moneys have been given to charities, to date, in 1998.
