Question:

416 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of cattle, sheep and pigs exported from the Republic of Ireland to continental Europe in each of the years 1995 and 1996 for breeding purposes, for slaughter and for further fattening. [1346/98]

The Central Statistics Office states that data relating to trade statistics on live animals from 1 January 1998 may be incomplete.

According to figures maintained by this Department exports of live animals to continental Europe in 1995 and 1996 were as follows:
