Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

682 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received confirmation from Kildare County Council regarding vehicular and pedestrian traffic at Bond Bridge, Maynooth, County Kildare; if he proposes, in view of these volumes, to provide the necessary funds to enable the county council to take immediate action to realign this bridge in the near future; his views on the urgent necessity for these works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2241/98]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 298 of 2 December 1997. My Department has not had recent communication from Kildare County Council regarding vehicular and pedestrian traffic at Bond Bridge, Maynooth. The priorisation of improvements at this location is a matter for the county council, within the funds available from their own resources and supplemented by State grants.
