Vol. 486 No. 3

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

John Browne

Question:

245 Mr. Browne (Wexford): asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when the transfer of lands (details supplied) in County Wexford will be completed. [2436/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 (i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration of Titles Act, 1964. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of the applicant's claim for registration as owner, take some time to process.

I am informed that queries have been raised in this case which have been put to the applicant's solicitor on 22 January 1988. These queries must be satisfactorily discharged before the matter can proceed. Finally, I can confirm that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
