Vol. 486 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Michael Ring

Question:

148 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the criteria for payment on leased commonage REP scheme was issued in view of the fact that only 47 per cent of County Mayo applicants were paid compared to 62 per cent for Galway, 82 per cent for Cork, 83 per cent for Donegal and 100 per cent for all the other counties involved. [2621/98]

A circular issued from my Department in December of last year setting out the arrangements for dealing with leased commonage cases. As I indicated to the Deputy in my reply to Question No. 454 of 28 January, the making of payments can only follow the determination of entitlements for each applicant on a case by case basis. These arrangements are proceeding with a view to making payments at the earliest possible opportunity.
