150 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the regulation which states that a farmer must own a minimum of ten acres to be eligible to apply to join the REP scheme is an EU regulation or one introduced by his Department. [2625/98]

The ten acre requirement was introduced by my Department following discussions and correspondence with the European Commission on the question of the eligibility of commonage for inclusion in REPS.
