Vol. 487 No. 5

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Paul McGrath

Question:

83 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in paying beef and cow premium grants to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath, whose farm is in a disadvantaged area and the late payments are causing financial hardship. [4434/98]

Advance payments of £824.60 and £6,731.40 issued to the person concerned on 2 December 1997 in respect of special beef premium and suckler cow payments respectively. However, before the balance of the premia payments and the beef cow headage payments can issue, the forage area declared by the person concerned must be validated by the land parcel identification system (LPIS). Due to the fact that a map of the above-named person's land was not received I have arranged for a townland map to issue from my Department. As soon as this map is returned with the boundaries of his holding outlined, the area will be cleared on the land parcel identification system and the remaining payments can then issue.
