Question:

99 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if the proposed project by the ESB to erect a high voltage transmission line from Aghada to Rafeen in the Cork harbour area, which will include approximately 80 steel pylons, has been supported or financed in any way by EU Structural or Cohesion Funds; if finance will be made available in the future to assist this project; if so, if she will provide details of this; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7785/98]

There are no EU funds being made available to erect a high voltage transmission line from Aghada to Rafeen.

The EU funds made available to my Department are being used for the development of specific projects in the public transport, energy, postal and telecommunications sectors. There are no EU funds currently available to my Department, or likely to become available in the future, which could be used for the purpose mentioned by the Deputy.
