Written Answers. - Computerisation Programme.

John Bruton

Question:

739 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the schools, if any, in County Meath which are to be included in the school integration project for using information technology in schools. [9153/98]

The school integration project, SIP is an essential element of Schools IT 2000 and will involve at least 40 schools. The National Centre for Technology in Education NCTE, has responsibility for implementing all elements of Schools IT 2000 including the SIP. The NCTE is at present drawing up a list of priority areas and detailed criteria for the selection of projects for inclusion in the SIP. These will be circulated to schools with an invitation to submit proposals. Selection of schools for inclusion in the SIP will then be made in accordance with these priorities and criteria.
