Vol. 490 No. 2

Written Answers - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Question:

257 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a dealing will be completed in the Land Registry for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that it has been ongoing for some time. [9933/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 (i.e. Acquisition of Title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 11 July 1996. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under secton 49, which require detailed examination of the applicant's claim for registration as owner, take some time to process and it is not possible at this stage to give an estimated time for completion of this case.

However, I can confirm that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
