Vol. 490 No. 6

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Seán Ryan

Question:

116 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction the creation of a special unit in Lusk national school, County Dublin and the appointment of a teacher for children with special disabilities similar to the unit which was formed in St. Oliver Plunkett's national school, Malahide, County Dublin, in view of the needs of the children in the Fingal area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10887/98]

I am aware that the school in question has sought sanction from my Department for the establishment of a special class for children with specific learning disabilities.

The case put forward by the school is currently being examined by my Department's inspectorate.
