Vol. 491 No. 7

Written Answers. - Passport Applications.

Jack Wall

Question:

189 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kildare has not been granted a passport. [13140/98]

The responsibility for the issue of passports is a matter for my colleague, the Minister for Foreign Affairs. However, I assume that the Deputy is referring to recent communications with officials in my Department concerning an application for a certificate of naturalisation by the two persons referred to on behalf of the third person referred to. I understand that, although it has been indicated that an application was submitted some weeks ago, it appears that the application was not received in my Department. I further understand that an application form has been sent to the persons referred to, at their request, in the last few days and that it is their intention to submit another application as soon as replacement supporting documentation is to hand.
