Vol. 492 No. 1

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Finucane

Question:

221 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a person (details supplied) in County Limerick who applied for title in March 1997 and was referred to the mapping section will have the application finalised in view of the fact that the delay is causing anxiety to one of the applicants. [13663/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 4 April 1997. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners, take some time to process.

I am further informed that the Land Registry issued queries on this dealing to the applicant's solicitor on 19 May 1998 and replies are awaited. The queries raised must be satisfactorily dis-charged before the matter can proceed.
Accordingly, it is not possible to estimate a completion date for the application concerned at this stage.
