Question:

102 Mr. Quinn asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of legislative measures to be implemented within her Department to complete the EU single market legislative programme (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23592/98]

In so far as the relevant EU legislation awaiting transposition by my Department is concerned, the position is as follows:

It is planned to implement the new Copyright and Related Rights Bill during 1999, which will provide for the implemention of this Directive

93/103/EECCouncil Directive 93/102/EC of 23 November 1992 concerning the minimum health and safety requirements for work on board fishing vessels: Thirteenth individual directive within the meaning of Article 16(1) of Directive 89/391/EEC

Draft Regulations to implement Council Directive 93/103/EEC are being finalised and will be signed into law as soon as possible.

94/60/ECEuropean Parliament and Council Directive 94/60/EC of 20 December 1994 amending for the 14th time Directive 76/769/EEC on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the member states relating to restrictions on the marketing and use of certain dangerous substances and preparations.

Regulations to transpose Directive 94/60/EC have been finalised and will be signed into law shortly.

96/55/ECAdapting to technical progress for the 2nd time Annex 1 to Dir. 76/769/EEC on the approximation of laws, regulations and administration provisions relating to restrictions on marketing of chlorinated solvents.

Regulations to transpose Directive 96/55/EC have been finalised and will be signed into law shortly.

97/10/EECCommission Directive 97/10/EC of 26 February 1997 adapting to technical progress for the 3rd time Annex 1 to Council Directive 76/769/EEC on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of member states relating to restrictions on the marketing and use of certain dangerous substances and preparations (CMRs)

Regulations to transpose Directive 97/10/EC have been finalised and will be signed into law shortly.

97/16/ECDirective 97/16/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 10 April 1997 amending for the 15th time Directive 76/769/EEC on restrictions on the marketing and use of certain dangerous substances and preparations.

Regulations to transpose Directive 97/16/EC have been finalised and will be signed into law shortly.

95/26/ECDirective 95/26/EC (which amends Directive 85/611/EEC) in so far as it relates to undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities (UCITS).

It is planned to give effect to this Directive early in 1999.

97/64/ECCommission Directive 97/64/EC ATP for the fourth time Annex 1 to Council Directive 76/769/EEC on the approx. of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the MS relating to restrictions on the marketing and use of certain dangerous substances and preparations (lamp oils).

Regulations to transpose Directive 97/64/EC have been finalised and will be transposed into law shortly.

95/63/ECAmending Directive 89/655/EEC concerning the minimum safety and health requirements for the use of work equipment by workers at work.

Draft Regulations to transpose this Directive are currently being prepared

97/56/ECCouncil Directive 97/56/EC amending for the 16th time 76/769/EEC on the approximation of the laws, regulations and administrative provisions of member states relating to restrictions on the marketing and use of certain dangerous substances and preparations.

Regulations to transpose this Directive are currently being drafted.

97/69/ECCommission Directive 97/69/EC Adapting to Technical Progress for the 23rd Council Directive 67/548/EEC on classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous substances.

Draft Regulations to transpose Directive 97/69/EC are currently being prepared.

97/4/ECDirective 97/4/EC of 27 January 1997 amending Directive 79/112/EEC on the approximation of the laws of the member states relating to the labelling, presentation and advertising of foodstuffs.

Work is progressing on Regulations to give effect to the Directive with a view to bringing them into force next year.
