349 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the preparations, if any, under way in the Garda for the role it may play in emergency plans following possible civil disruption triggered by the millennium bug; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24805/98]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that where a policing function is required, contingency plans as a matter of course form part of the overall plan to police any given situation.
