Question:

61 Mr. Callely asked the Taoiseach the amount and value of beef, pigmeat, poultry, sheep and sheep meat imported; the names of the importing companies for each year from 1990 to date in each category; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24198/98]

The tables show the value and volume of meat imports for the years 1990 to 1997 and for the period January-July 1998. Accurate information is not available on the level of live sheep imports. Company details are strictly confidential and are not divulged by the Central Statistics Office. This is in accordance with national and international law governing statistical confidentiality.
