Vol. 497 No. 2

Written Answers - Egg Production.

John Gormley

Question:

109 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the work of a free range egg association (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24310/98]

I am fully aware of the work both of the association referred to by the Deputy who along with other representative bodies and individuals are endeavouring to maintain the highest standards for all forms of egg production in Ireland. It is accepted internationally and at EU level that Ireland's laying flocks have a high health status. I acknowledge the contribution by all concerned within the industry in achieving and maintaining this status.
