Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Individual Development.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

86 Mr. O'Shea asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the specific targeted new measures she will have introduced in the Waterford constituency in 1999 to promote enterprise, trade and employment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [26694/98]

Government support for enterprise, trade and employment is implemented primarily through agencies under the aegis of my Department, operating a wide range of policy instruments, to be used as appropriate in any given instance. The continued relevance and effectiveness of these instruments is kept under constant review and changes are made as required. That will continue to be the case in 1999.

The policy instruments now being deployed are proving very effective in supporting the establishment and expansion of enterprises throughout the State, including Waterford, which I visited very recently.
