48 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the position regarding the grey-hound industry Bill; if the legal impasse regarding the subject of competition has been resolved; the approximate date for its introduction; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27681/98]

The legal difficulties have now been resolved and I expect that drafting work on the Bill will commence early in the new year. The approximate date of its introduction will be decided in the context of the Government's legislative programme for 1999.
