Vol. 498 No. 6

Written Answers - FÁS Training Programmes.

David Stanton

Question:

57 Mr. Stanton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the categories for FÁS schemes and training courses to include apprenticeship and community employment schemes; the number of men and women participating in each category of course; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [28230/98]

The number of men and women who completed FÁS training courses and schemes in 1998 to the end of November is provided on the following table.

Since FÁS launched its Action Programme for Women in 1990, women's participation on FÁS programmes has risen from 35 per cent in 1990 to 46 per cent at the end of November 1998.

Over the next three years, FÁS's action programme for women will focus on ensuring that services reach key groups of women such as the long-term unemployed, women returners, women with disabilities, women travellers and female early school leavers.

Throughput on FÁS programme, 1-1-1998 to 27-11-1998.
