Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Nora Owen

Question:

985 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on progress in the provision of a permanent extension to Pope John Paul II school, Malahide, County Dublin; and if the design team has been appointed for this project. [1643/99]

Seán Ryan

Question:

1003 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the lack of accommodation in Pope John Paul II school, Malahide, County Dublin; and if he will report on the need for a permanent extension which is long overdue. [1833/99].

I propose to take Questions Nos. 985 and 1003 together.

My Department is aware of the accommodation difficulties at Pope John Paul II school and a project to provide a five classroom extension with ancillary accommodation has been approved to proceed to architectural planning. The school has been advised to appoint a full design team and it is anticipated that the planning process will commence shortly.
