Vol. 499 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Refurbishment.

Liam Lawlor

Question:

126 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education and Science if the new school building grants criteria will be applied to St. John's national school, Tower Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, in relation to recent refurbishment works (details supplied); if the new criteria will be applied, as a matter of general principle, to works in progress; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3108/99]

In my statement on 10 January on the new initiative on school ownership and on local contributions to capital projects, I indicated that discussions would be held on the implementation arrangements. To this end, a working group has been established within my Department and it will be meeting with the school representative bodies. When the work of this group has been completed, my Department will be in a position to consider individual cases.
