Vol. 500 No. 4

Written Answers. - Road Networks.

Question:

287 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received observations and objections from Dublin Corporation on behalf of residents of Emerald Square, Dublin 8; the position in relation to the environmental impact statement for the road improvement scheme at Cork Street and The Coombe; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4318/99]

Dublin Corporation submitted an environmental impact statement for the proposed Cork Street-Coombe relief route on 17 August, 1998. The closing date for receipt of written submissions was 2 October, 1998, and 11 submissions were received in my Department, including a submission from the chairperson of the Residents Committee, Emerald Square, Dublin 8.

The related compulsory purchase order was received in my Department from the Corporation on 15 February, 1999. An inspector will be nominated as soon as possible to examine both the EIS and CPO, and will report in due course so that an early determination of the proposal may be made.
