Question:71 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if all contracts within the control of her Department and requiring open tendering were publicly advertised; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4730/99]
Written Answers. - Departmental Contracts.
I refer the Deputy to my reply to his question of 26 March 1998; since that date contracts have been conducted in accordance with EU Public Procurement or Government Contract rules. In some cases, contracts were awarded without tendering but, in such cases, the approval of the Government Contracts Committee or the Department of Finance, as appropriate, was obtained. In all cases the appropriate procedures were complied with. In the case of the sub-contracts awarded by service providers contracted by me, it is a requirement to have the approval of my Department and the Department of Finance.
