Vol. 501 No. 6

Written Answers. - Freedom of Information Act.

Michael Ring

Question:

127 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is being denied certain information and access to his files by his Department and BIM in view of the fact he applied for this under the Freedom of Information Act, 1997. [6966/99]

I understand that a response to the request referred to by the Deputy was issued by my Department on 4 January 1999 and that the response set out the reasons for the decision reached in this instance. It is of course open to any applicant who is dissatisfied with a decision on a Freedom of Information request to invoke the appeals procedure provided for under the 1997 Freedom of Information Act.
