Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

135 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason headage and suckler grants have not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [11315/99]

After processing of the 1998 area aid application of the above named it was determined that two of the parcels of land which he is claiming are also being claimed by two other herdowners as commonage. The parcels in question have been classified by the area aid unit as commonage. A letter and maps have issued to the above named with a view to clarifying the position. No further payments can issue until these outstanding matters have been resolved.

Liam Aylward

Question:

136 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if an application under the installation aid grant scheme first applied for in 1997 and resubmitted to Teagasc by a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will be approved. [11316/99]

A number of applications under the installation aid scheme were with Teagasc offices at the time the scheme was suspended on 7 August 1997. I am arranging with Teagasc to have these applications submitted to my Department for examination. This is one of those cases.

Such applications will be approved if they were at the same stage of completion as those applications which had been received in my Department at the time of the suspension of the scheme and which were subsequently approved. These were applications where evidence was provided that transfer documents had been lodged for registration in the land registry by 7 August 1997.

Question:

137 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if an application under the installation aid grant scheme for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny will be processed. [11317/99]

No application under the scheme of installation aid has been received to date in my Department from the person named.

Michael Ring

Question:

138 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive cull ewe compensation for de-stocking his flock by 44 animals by 4 December 1998 as per his original instructions based on his quota rate. [11318/99]

Payment under this measure was made to the person named on 21 December 1998.

Michael Ring

Question:

139 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason herdowners were issued with incorrect 1999 area aid applications when their total forage areas and other details had been verified and corrected in 1998 and 1997. [11319/99]

Pre-printed area aid application forms are issued by my Department as a service to farmers. The onus rests with the applicant however, to ensure that the details which are printed on the form are correct. The details printed on the 1999 application forms reflected the position on the date of sending for printing. In all cases corrected subsequent to that date the material would be out of date. The total forage area was not pre-printed on any of the 1999 area aid application forms.

Billy Timmins

Question:

140 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the position regarding a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow in view of the fact the area aid unit did not include rented land in his 1996 application and he was not paid a 1996 ten month premium. [11344/99]

The area aid application of the person named was processed based on his declared forage area. No request for an amendment to this declared forage area was received before the closing date. Therefore no additional land could be added and area based payments issued on the area initially declared by the person named.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

141 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a de-stocking grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry. [11363/99]

This scheme applied to flockowners identified as having mountain breeding ewes and who declared commonage land on their 1998 area aid application.

The eligibility under the scheme of the person named had not been established by the time the bulk of payments under the scheme were made. His eligibility has now been confirmed and a payment will be issued to him shortly.
