Written Answers. - EU Veterinary Office.

John Bruton

Question:

166 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will provide a progress report in relation to the establishment of the new EU veterinary office at Grange, County Meath; when construction work will begin; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11657/99]

The survey, planning, design and procurement of the building and facilities for the EU Food and Veterinary Office at Grange are being undertaken by the Office of Public Works. Planning permission has been secured and the ten dering process completed. The Office of Public Works has informed my Department that construction work on the site will commence as soon as the plans and legal documentation are approved by the EU Commission. In the meantime, discussions on a number of particular aspects of the move to Grange have been taken place between representatives of the EU Commission and a number of Government departments and agencies.
