Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Offices.

Denis Naughten

Question:

177 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of offices or institutions under his Department which are open to the public; the number of these accessible to people with disabilities; the plans, if any, there are to ensure all buildings are accessible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11748/99]

My Department has more than 80 premises which are open to the public.

Agriculture House, as well as divisional headquarters at Castlebar, Cavan, Portlaoise and Wexford and the more recently designed or refurbished local offices are accessible to persons with disabilities.

In my Department's customer service action plan there is a commitment to upgrade all our offices to provide ready access for persons with disabilities with priority being given to those offices most frequented by the public.
