Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Offices.

Denis Naughten

Question:

310 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the number of offices or institutions under his Department which are open to the public; the number of these accessible to people with disabilities; the plans, if any, there are to ensure all buildings are accessible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11755/99]

My Department has staff based in two buildings. One of these buildings is accessible to people with disabilities and the other is expected to be accessible by the end of this month. The Irish Sports Council which will be set up on a statutory basis later this year is located at 21 Fitzwilliam Square and is currently being refurbished. It is not accessible to people with disabilities at present. However, the question of providing such access will be pursued shortly.

While the question of accessibility is a day to day matter for the individual agencies, I am advised by them that area development management (ADM) ltd's offices located at Holbrook House, Holles Street and European Union House in Monaghan, Bord Fáilte Éireann's head office, at Baggot Street Bridge, and CERT's offices in CERT House, Amiens Street, are all accessible to people with disabilities.
