Vol. 504 No. 7

Written Answers. - Suckler Cow Quota.

Michael Creed

Question:

158 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the category of the 1999 criteria under which a person (details supplied) in County Cork should apply for an additional suckler cow quota. [12723/99]

The person named applied for an allocation of suckler cow quota from the 1999 national reserve. She applied under category C which was reserved for farmers who, considered that they did not qualify under the priority categories A and B. Applicants under categories A and B had priority over applicants under category C.

All of the quota in the reserve was allocated to eligible applicants in categories A and B whose livestock units were at least ten and not more than 16. Apart from 13 farmers residing on off shore islands, there was insufficient quota in the reserve to enable any allocations to be made to applicants under category C.

As the person named has 20 livestock units, she would not have qualified for an allocation under categories A or B.

Question:

159 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment in respect of his December 1997 ten month beef premium application. [12724/99]

The person named submitted a special beef premium application in respect of 13 animals on 3 December 1997. The 80 per cent advance payment issued in respect of three of these animals on 19 March 1998. All of the other ten tag numbers were subject to query.
