Vol. 504 No. 7

Written Answers. - Drug Treatment Services.

Denis Naughten

Question:

225 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide additional funding for St. James's Resource Centre which works with the drug addiction problem in the Dublin area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12858/99]

The provision of funding for drug misuse services in the Dublin area is a matter for the Eastern Health Board in the first instance.

I understand that the health board has agreed in principle to support this project, subject to certain conditions being met. A meeting took place between the health board and a representative of the centre in December last year, at which this representative was requested to submit certain information. When this information has been provided the health board can proceed further with the matter.
