Question:

56 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Cork is entitled to a 1998 extensification grant. [14681/99]

The person named submitted a 1998 area aid application for 48.09 hectares. He held a milk quota of 10,153 gallons on 1 April 1998. On the basis of the national average yield of 897 gallons per cow this level of quota is equivalent to 11.31LUs. He applied on 154 ewes equivalent to 23.10 LUs under the 1998 ewe premium scheme, each ewe is equivalent to 0.15LU. He also applied for and was paid on four suckler cows equivalent to 4 LUs under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme. No application was received under the 1998 special beef premium scheme.

In accordance with the regulations, extensification premium is payable on all animals eligible for payment under the suckler cow premium and special beef premium schemes if the stocking density of a holding is less than 1.4 LUs-HA. Based on the above details the person named has a stocking density of 0.79 LU-HA and will be eligible for the 1998 extensification premium payment of which will commence next week.
