Vol. 505 No. 7

Written Answers. - National Lottery Beneficiary Compendium.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

58 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance when the National Lottery Beneficiary Compendium including expenditure of lottery funds for 1998 will be published; and his views on whether the reports should be published within a reasonable time after the expiry of the period being reported on. [14630/99]

The first publication of the National Lottery Beneficiary Compendium covered the period from the introduction of the lottery in 1987 to 1994. This was followed by a second volume which covered both 1995 and 1996. The third and most recently published volume covered the single year 1997.

From now on, it is intended to produce an annual volume. The volume covering 1998 will be published as soon as possible after the appropriation accounts for that year are issued by the Comptroller and Auditor General. These accounts are normally published in October of the year following the year of account.

My Department has this year made the beneficiary compendium available on the Internet and I view this as a major step in making the information more readily available to a much wider audience.
