Question:

236 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Education and Science the entry requirement for applicants to the Teastas i dTeagasc na Gaeilge course. [19239/99]

The following are eligible to apply to do the course for the Teastas i dTeagasc na Gaeilge: people who hold a full degree granted by a recognised authority for the awarding of degrees, provided that Irish was a subject in the final examination, or who hold an equivalent qualification in Irish; those who have completed a degree course with Irish as a degree subject, but who have not yet been awarded that qualification; those who have obtained a pass in a qualifying examination in modern Irish for an MA course in Irish provided that that examination is run by a recognised university and is of an equal standard to the BA examination; qualified primary school teachers who hold a B.Ed. degree in which An Ghaeilge or An Ghaeilge Acadúil was a degree subject or qualified primary school teachers who hold an equivalent qualification in Irish.
