Question:

237 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Education and Science the number and names of primary schools in Donegal without remedial services. [19240/99]

All schools in County Donegal with a pupil-teacher ratio of 10:1 or above have been allocated a remedial teaching service with effect from l2 September 1999. There are seven schools in County Donegal with a pupil-teacher ratio of less than 10:1 and currently without a remedial service. The seven schools in question are as follows: Glentogher; Convent N.S., Carndonagh; Creeslough N.S.; Ballyheerin N.S.; Gartan N.S., Churchill, Letterkenny; Scoil Náisiúnta Baile Mór Portnablagh; Scoil Náisiúnta Duchoraidh, Doochary and Scoil Náisiúnta Eadan Fhionnfhaoich, Na Gleannta.

It is open to any of these schools to make a case to my Department for a remedial teacher service. Any such case will be fully considered.
